Menu Planning with the MARTIN’S Ad

Menu planning and saving money really can go hand-in-hand.  It is important to realize that you can still enjoy some of your family’s favorite meals by menu planning with a sales flyer, you just need to be flexible.

I am including ideas and recipes for four meals for the week.  As I’ve mentioned before, I have found that I really only cook on average four meals a week and that we end up having at least one left-over night, one meal out, and something easy like homemade pizza or breakfast for dinner.

This week’s recipes are all featuring the Perdue Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast that are on sale this week for 50% off and an even better deal when you combine the $0.75/1 coupon from the 4/10 RedPlum insert.

Garlic Lime Chicken Fajitas:

I have been wanting to try the McCormick Recipe Inspirations Cards (they are $0.50 this week when you use the $0.75/1 coupon from the 4/10 RedPlum insert).  The recipe card for Garlic Lime Chicken Fajitas sounds yummy.  The limes are on sale this week for $0.67 each.  I keep tortillas in my freezer when I buy extras on sale, or this is a great recipe if you are all out of tortillas and want to try to make your own.

Tangy Ranch Chicken:

I have seen this recipe on the back of my French’s mustard bottle and wanted to try it for some time.  The French’s mustard is $0.65 when you use the $0.30/1 coupon from the 4/10 SmartSource insert.  If you need to pick up Ranch dressing the GIANT brand is on sale for $1.50 a bottle.  The GIANT Brand brown sugar is $1.33 for a 2-lb. bag if you don’t have any in your pantry.  You could serve this with some baked yams (or sweet potatoes) at $0.89/lb. and a bag of the Birds Eye Steamfresh Vegetables for $0.80 for a delicious and inexpensive meal.

Creamy Chicken & Broccoli Casserole:

I was selected through House party to host a Philly Cooking Crème party in March.  It was a lot of fun and I got to try out several of the recipes.  This recipe was one that I really liked and it was so easy to put together.  (On a side note one of my guests has to eat a gluten-free diet and loved the cooking crème because now she can make casseroles like this one again.  I left off the crackers on part of the casserole for her.)  Don’t forget that if you buy two of the cooking crèmes in one transaction you automatically get $1 off your purchase.  You can get them for free when you use two of the $1.50/1 coupons from the 3/6 SmartSource insert.  Make sure to buy two so that you can use one for this recipe and one for the recipe that follows.  The Hanover frozen vegetables are $2 each if you want the broccoli florets, if you aren’t that picky you can get a bag of Birds Eye Steamfresh vegetables for only $0.80.  The Sargento shredded cheese is also $2 a bag if you don’t have any cheese in your refrigerator.  This recipe and the one that follows really are one dish meals.  If you want to have something else you could make a Caesar salad with the Foxy Romaine Hearts that are on sale for $2 a bag and use the Marzetti Caesar dressing in the produce section that is listed on-line as on sale for $2.99 and use the $$0.75/1 coupon from the 4/3 SmartSource to get it for $1.99.

Lemon-Broccoli Rice with Chicken:

This recipe was another one that I prepared and that we enjoyed at my Philly Cooking Crème party.  The lemons are on sale for $0.67 each this week and if you need the broccoli florets pick up a bag of the Hanover frozen vegetables for $2.  Don’t skip the lemon zest – it smells so good when it hit the pan!

Happy Menu Planning!
