eBONUSCARD Offers at MARTIN’S

eBCoffersI need to thank reader Their Mommy His Wife for reminding me about using the eBONUSCARD offers at MARTIN’S.  In reading her comment and then looking at what was available when I logged into my MARTIN’S account we had different coupons available.  I don’t know if this is because we are in different areas, or if the coupons are specific to your buying trends.  (If you signed up for the weekly e-mails you may have noticed that they always give you suggestions of items on sale that you may want to purchase based on your previous purchases with your bonuscard.)

To access the eBONUSCARD offers you have to register you MARTIN’S card and set-up your MARTIN’S account.  I talked about how to register your card  and sign-up for MARTIN’S e-mails in this post.  Once you are signed up you need to click on the “click here for your personalized page”.
image

It will bring up three different boxes (at least mine did).  One of the boxes is to an option to view eBONUSCARD Offers.
image

All you have to do is follow the directions at the top of the page once you click on the “View Offers” button.  I had the option on mine for $1.50 off any 8-10 oz. Cracker Barrel Deluxe Cheese item (which was only $2 not $2.50 like the ad stated this week) and $0.75 off GIANT Frozen vegetables which worked with the GIANT Steam Ready vegetables on sale.  You don’t have to click anything else to load the coupons to your card – it automatically adds them when you click on the “Add to BONUSCARD” button.

The eBONUSCARD offers do have an expiration date and it says that it is a limit of 1 per BONUSCARD household.  I have not tested it out myself so I am not positive, but I think you may be able to combine manufacturer coupons with these coupons.  Has anyone done this if so please let me and my other readers know.

Happy Shopping!

MARTIN’S Deals for the week of December 26

Martin's_Logo

I didn’t see any deals that jumped out at me this week with MARTIN’S, but I did find free pasta and some more party foods on sale.

There is a small box on the back of this week’s MARTIN’s ad that says if you buy $8 worth of expressions from Hallmark party goods with your BONUSCARD you get $5 off instantly – that is a great deal.  Stock-up on plates and napkins for birthday parties, baby or bridal showers.  Paper products can really add up when you are having a party.  I don’t think that you get the $5 off for every $8 that you purchase so if you end up with $16 worth of products I would suggest you purchase them in two separate transactions.

Click here to view an on-line version of this week’s ad. Click here for information about MARTIN’S coupon policy.

Check out Money Saving Mom for my MARTIN’S top deals in addition to top deals for other grocery stores, drug stores, and discount stores from other deal seekers.

Here are what I consider to be the top deals this week at MARTIN’S.  Remember what I consider to be a good deal and what you consider to be a good deal may differ.  Please feel free to leave me a comment with any deals that you find.

Meat:

  • GIANT Fresh Whole Boneless Pork Tenderloin (10-12lb) – $1.89/lb (cut free to your specifications)
  • Ground Beef (80/20) – $1.99/lb
  • GIANT Split Chicken Breast (4-5 lb) – $1/lb
  • USDA Choice Top Round London Broil – $2.99/lb (not a stock-up price, but not a bad price)
  • Fresh Whole Pork Shoulder Roast – $0.99/lb (Great for making barbecue in your crock-pot)
  • GIANT Whole Chicken – $0.99/lb

Produce:

I have been adding the bag salad deals to most of my weekly post.  I know that lots of people think that bag salad is expensive and a waste of money.  I have to agree that bag salad can be expensive and a convenience only item.  But, there have been weather problems with the farms on the West coast, where most of our lettuce comes from (especially in the winter).  The cost of a head of lettuce is really high right now.  (I think it was $1.79 for a head of iceberg lettuce last week and $1.99/lb for a head of Romaine.)  When you look at the fact that you are getting all edible lettuce (no core), that is already cleaned and chopped – the $2 to $2.50 a bag isn’t such a bad deal.  I also like to look for the bags that have the $1 off sticker on them because they are close to their best by date – that makes it an even better deal.

  • Tote Bag Apples – $0.99/lb
  • Dole Special Blend Salad or Complete Kit – $2

It’s Not Fair!!!!!!

“It’s not fair!” is a phrase that Natalie has begun to say and now Megan has picked up and is repeating.  I don’t like it.  One night at dinner, when I was breaking something in half for them to share, Natalie exclaimed that it wasn’t fair.  I had had a long day and was exhausted.  I looked at her and I asked her what wasn’t fair.  I then proceeded to let her know that it wasn’t fair that there are people who don’t have food to eat and we have more than enough, and that there are people who don’t have a nice, warm house on a cold night like us.  My rant didn’t phase her.

Since I have become a parent I have really seen my relationship with God in a new way.  I always knew that God was my heavenly father and that He loved me.  I knew that my parents loved me.  It wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized how much a parent truly loves their child.  It allowed me to see the Bible verses I had learned as a child in an entirely different light.  For example, probably one of the first verses I can remember memorizing was John 3:16 (ESV) – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”  I can’t imagine as a parent loving something or someone else enough to give up my child.  WOW – God really loves me (and you)!

I started to think about the “it’s not fair” outburst with Natalie and Megan and about how many times I have said that to God about something in my own life.  I was the selfish preschooler upset because the “other piece” looked more appealing.  God was the parent looking back at me and saying, “Was it fair that my son came to live on this earth, and then died on the cross for your sins?”  My response, “No God, it isn’t fair.  Thank you for giving us your son, Jesus, and allowing him to sacrifice himself for me.”

I hope that I can stop being the selfish preschooler and instead be the thankful adult and realize that no it isn’t fair, but I appreciate everything that I have and that has been given to me.  I hope that in the busyness of Christmas that you have the time to reflect on what a precious gift it really was to the world when Christ was born.

Merry Christmas!

Free Antibiotics at MARTIN’S

As a mom of three little ones and a pharmacist I am well aware of how expensive it can be when someone gets sick or gets hurt and needs to see a doctor.  I have been to the doctor every Friday for the last 3 weeks.  Once for Michael’s 4-month check-up.  The other two were unplanned visits.

This past Friday, Natalie and Megan were playing outside in the snow.  I was watching them from the window and feeding Michael when Megan started crying and Natalie started saying “I didn’t mean to, it was an accident!”  Megan came inside and I found out exactly what had happened.  Natalie was playing with a plastic shovel and was “shoveling” the sidewalk.  She was really swinging the shovel full of snow up into the air and letting it fall on her head.  Megan got too close and the shovel hit her in the face, across her eye.  I was looking at her eye after she calmed down, and it was still red she was also having trouble opening up her eye.  I wasn’t sure if some of the ice in the snow had scratched her eye or not.  I don’t like to take chances with eyes – you only have one set.  I decided I would pack everyone up and head to the pediatrician and have them check her out.  I was glad that I did because she did end up having a small scratch on her eye.  Thankfully it wasn’t anything major.  The pediatrician and I decided to be cautious and treat her with some antibiotic eye drops.  I went to MARTIN’S to get her prescription filled and expected to pay the $10 generic co-pay.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out the eye drops were one of the free antibiotics that MARTIN’S Pharmacy offers – and it is sad that I didn’t remember that since I am a MARTIN’S pharmacist.

Being able to get your antibiotic for free is really nice after you had to pay for a doctor visit and then sometimes need to buy an over-the-counter item in addition to your prescription.  There are only select antibiotics that are free.  To view the list go here and if you have any questions feel free to call your local MARTIN’S pharmacy.  One last thing -  don’t forget that MARTIN’S also has a $4 for a 30-day supply and $10 for a 90-day supply on select generic drugs.

I do want to put out a disclaimer that I was not asked to write this post nor was I given anything for writing this post.  I am a part-time MARTIN’S pharmacist and I just thought it would be nice to remind my readers about another way to save money during the cough and cold season.
