I dropped Natalie off at preschool and with a stack of coupons Megan and I headed off to Ukrop’s this morning. I have been paying more attention to my $1 coupons this week because of the $1 coupon doubler. I noticed throughout the store that there are lots of items on closeout. At my store the Quaker Oatmeal Squares (only one flavor) was on closeout for $2.24 and was already sold out. I got a tip in the comments section from Scott (that he had read on youngandfrugalinvirginia.blogspot) and an anonymous poster about combining that with the $1 coupon from the 2/14 RP combined with the $1 doubler for cereal for $0.24. Check the shelves in your store and you may get lucky. Unfortunately some of the items I saw on closeout did not have a coupon available such as the Softsoap Ensembles and Kashi Good Friends cereal. I did however snag a box of Frosted Mini-Wheats Little Bites Honey Nut on closeout for $1.62 (down from $3.25) and combined it with a $1 off coupon I had printed a few weeks ago from coupons.com making it only $0.62. (Unfortunately I just checked and the coupon is no longer available.) I also found a great way to get free Cheerios – the cereal cups are only $0.99. I had a $1 off plain Cheerios coupon (that I got a total of 4 by signing up at this site) it doesn’t put any size limitations on the purchase so I got the cup for free. (These are great for mornings that we need to eat breakfast in the car!)
So here is the picture of my deals today – I used my last $1 coupon doubler on the Uncle Ben’s rice – I couldn’t say no to free and a great pantry staple.

Total Savings = $49.58 (55%)
Not bad for groceries for a family of 4.33 :)
